Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer (Amsterdam)


We are looking to recruit an Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer to support the management of the activities to be performed for Instrumentation development of the Electrical & Instrumentation Systems, such as Safeguarding system, Process Control system, Fire & Gas, CCTV, Intrusion detection system, Access control system, HV and LV Electrical equipment, Flow metering and Gas analyzer system, for the offshore pipelines and for Main and Back-up Control Centers. Technical lead for the preparation, setup and delivery of Instrumentation. You will be based in our Amsterdam Headquarters and report to the Head of E&I.


As a subsidiary of PAO Gazprom, South Stream Transport B.V. is responsible for a safe, reliable and uninterrupted operation of the TurkStream Pipeline system.

The TurkStream Offshore Pipeline starts in Anapa, Russia, running over 900 kilometres through the Black Sea to the Turkish coast. The pipeline will help secure energy supplies to Turkey and South-Eastern Europe in a reliable and sustainable way. We have used state-of-the-art technology, materials and equipment, to safeguard the pipeline’s safe operation for many decades to come.


  • Ensure smooth operation, proper maintenance, repair and modernization of electrical & instrumentation equipment, electric distribution network; 
  • Supervision of Electrical and Instrumentation activities to be performed for the development and integration of related Automation, Safety Systems, Fiscal Metering System, HV and LV Equipment, Main and Back-up Control Centers  for the offshore pipelines;
  • Revision and approval of Engineering and detail design for Instrumentation. Follow-up of technical aspects on Instrumentation interfaces with upstream and downstream operators;
  • Work closely with the Automation, Instrumentation, Metrology and Telecommunication engineers in Amsterdam, Receiving Terminal (RT) and Landfall Facility Russia (LFR) in their specific areas of hardware and software integration, data exchange, communication interfaces;
  • Support technical documentation for the operation, maintenance, verification and calibration of the electrical metering and electrical instrumentation;
  • Make applications for purchase of equipment, materials and spare parts required for the operation of energy facilities, perform calculations with necessary justifications of measures for saving energy, the needs of business units in the electrical energy, is involved in the development of standards of consumption and modes of operation;
  • Participate in the testing and acceptance of the electrical facilities and distribution network, in consideration of the reasons of failures of electrical equipment and develop measures for their prevention, creation of safe working conditions;
  • Provide technical support for electrical and thermo-technical equipment used at RT and LFR, and provide preparation for operation of electrical facilities and for acceptance, verification and certification by state supervision agencies if any;
  • Control the use and application of the measurements on all parts of the main and auxiliary electrical equipment;
  • Ensure compliance with the rules and safety standards in the operation and maintenance of electrical equipment and distribution networks;
  • Prepare reports using approved forms and indicators;
  • Conduct technical training, HSSE trainings and improve qualification of subordinate staff;
  • Participate in the development of accident-prevention training schedules;
  • Participate in the planning of maintenance processes at RT and LFR;
  • Manage optimisation processes for reducing energy loads in the peak consumption hours of maximum power system loads, conduct certification established by the power supply company;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


  • At least Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electric Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related disciplines - Master’s degree is desirable; 
  • 10+ years of experience within Electrical and Instrumentation area on pipeline projects (onshore and offshore pipeline installation, gas plant construction) deep knowledge in instrumentation, supervisory control and data acquisition; 
  • Regulations, directives, orders, methodical and normative materials on the operation of electrical equipment and distribution infrastructure, Electrical Code of Turkey, EU, HSSE and Industrial Safety Codes, be familiar with international Codes and Standards (NEN, IEC, ATEX, TSE and GOST) is a must;
  • Understanding of the principles of operation, maintenance and reconstruction of the electrical facilities;
  • Knowledge of specifications, design features, modes of operation and rules of technical operation of electrical equipment; unified system of preventative maintenance and efficient operation of the equipment; installation methods, adjustment, commissioning and maintenance of electrical equipment; procedure for preparation of applications for energy, equipment, materials, spare parts and tools;
  • Understanding of electrical fiscal metering system, Power Supply Management System, principles of tariffs set up for electricity;
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations of labour protection, HSSE and fire safety in the Republic of Turkey;
  • Previous experience working in international and multicultural environment as a plus;
  • Fluent in English – both written and oral; Russian is an advantage;
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills;
  • Perform well under stress and crisis;
  • Ability to work under strict deadlines;
  • Team-playing attitude; keen to work in multicultural contexts.
