Head of Mechanical Department Receiving Terminal (Kıyıköy)


We are looking for a Head of Mechanical Department to join our team in the Receiving Terminal office in Kıyıköy. Head of Mechanical Department is responsible to provide discipline engineering expertise and leadership for Mechanical part of operational activities. In this function, you will be responsible for the onshore facilities at Turkish side of the Turkstream offshore pipeline related to the Mechanical equipment (pipelines, valves, PIG traps, separators, water bath heaters, HIPPS, gas metering stations, Fuel gas treatment unit, piping etc.) and discipline. Therefore, previous experience in pre-commissioning, commissioning and operation is mandatory (construction and operation internship experience would be an asset). In this function, you will manage a team of Mechanical Engineers and Mechanical Technicians. You will report to the Chief Engineer – Deputy Head of Branch.



As a subsidiary of PAO Gazprom, South Stream Transport B.V. is responsible for the construction and operation of the TurkStream Offshore Pipeline.

The TurkStream Offshore Pipeline will start in Anapa, Russia, running over 900 kilometers through the Black Sea to the Turkish coast. The pipeline will help secure energy supplies to Turkey and South-Eastern Europe in a reliable and sustainable way. The Project will use state-of-the-art technology, materials and equipment, to safeguard the pipeline’s safe operation for many decades to come.


  • Manage all the activities of subordinated personnel of the mechanical maintenance service of the RT;
  • Manage pre-commissioning, commissioning and operational activities, including repair and maintenance activities of the mechanical part of the equipment executed by the Contractors and RT mechanical maintenance personnel;
  • Manage availability and completeness of the design of the mechanical equipment (technical specification, data sheets, etc.) in compliance with the requirements of the safety rules, standards and operational manuals;
  • Control and supervise  Contractor’s engineering and design activities in their specific areas of control, from the pre-commissioning, commissioning and operational point of view for all mechanical equipment of the Receiving Terminal;
  • Manage the development of instructions, regulations, manuals and procedures associated with the pre-commissioning, commissioning, operation, maintenance and repair, decommissioning and conservation of the mechanical equipment;
  • Control under implementation of PTW system and CMMS at the RT;
  • Control and coordinate administrative duties such as preparing daily reports and procedural updates, performance reporting and operational efficiencies;
  • Interface with Company Partners, Contractors, Specialist Consultants and Vendors;
  • Liaise with HSSE, QA/QC, CPI teams and other project Teams;
  • Lead the process in that mechanical equipment operational deliverables are in accordance with Project standards/specifications;
  • Manage preparation and approve in due course the requests (specifications) for supply of equipment, emergency stock, materials and spare parts for operational needs, production needs planned maintenance and capital repair;
  • Take part in the selection of potential pre-commissioning, commissioning, operational and maintenance contractors;
  • Manage the performing technical documentation review;
  • Act as a lead technical focal point for Contractors with regard to pre-commissioning, commissioning and operational issues of the mechanical equipment;
  • Conduct interface management across all Project phases with engineering contractors / design companies and partners with regard to engineering deliverables (vendors / engineering contractors);
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


  • Master or Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering;
  • 10+ years of work experience as a Mechanical Engineer or 3 years as a head of mechanical maintenance department in a large gas pipeline construction project (onshore pipeline installation, gas plant operation, and onshore gas facilities);
  • Good knowledge of the operational activities for the mechanical equipment related to the gas transportation industry;
  • Experience of managing of subordinated personnel;
  • Experience with high-end technology, advanced domestic and abroad foreign experience in the operation of offshore gas transportation systems and main pipelines;
  • Experience with Emergency response planning and Emergency communication chart during situations;
  • Knowledge of the following systems and equipment is required: Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), shutdown and control valves, valves instrumentation, HIIPPS, PIG traps, water bath heaters, gas separators, gas-metering stations;
  • Experience with International, European, Turkish norms and codes related to pre-commissioning, commissioning and operations of the mechanical equipment in a gas industry;
  • Knowledge of Offshore standard DET NORSKE VERITAS DNV-OS-F101 SUBMARINE PIPELINE SYSTEMS is mandatory as a main design code for the project;
  • Fluent Russian, English and Turkish– both written and oral;
  • Ready to work in a multicultural environment;
  • Perform well under stress and crises;
  • Good communication and leadership skills.
