Metrology Specialist (Amsterdam)


We are building up our Operations Department and recruiting for a Metrology Specialist you will support the E&I Team during preparation for Operations, conducts technical documentation on operation, repair, calibration of measuring instruments. Personally supervises the correctness of the technical documentation for the equipment, schedules the checking and calibrations controls of the measurement equipment calibration and calibration of instruments in accordance with the approved delivery plan of SSTTBV landfall facilities measurement systems of Gas Receiving Terminal.


As a subsidiary of PAO Gazprom, South Stream Transport B.V. is responsible for the construction and operation of the TurkStream Offshore Pipeline.

The TurkStream Offshore Pipeline will start in Anapa, Russia, running over 900 kilometres through the Black Sea to the Turkish coast. The pipeline will help secure energy supplies to Turkey and South-Eastern Europe in a reliable and sustainable way. The Project will use state-of-the-art technology, materials and equipment, to safeguard the pipeline’s safe operation for many decades to come.


  • The main task of the Metrology specialist is to provide and maintain the necessary level of metrological characteristics;
  • Delivery of Project in accordance with agreed premises joint accountability across the entire Project team. Alignment with Company’s various requirements including project standards / guides and design standards in part of Metrology discipline;
  • Delivery of the Measurement and Instrumentation deliverables and assurance per the controls identified in the Project standards/specifications;
  • Overall technical assurance for Measurement and Instrumentation for the Project including assurance that the engineering deliverables are done correctly and technical sign-off of changes;
  • Coordinate and execute technical documentation review of Metrology discipline;
  • Assuring the appropriate technical oversight of the various engineering and construction Contractors in part of Metering interface issues; 
  • Acting as a main technical focal point for Contractors and for upstream/downstream operators in part of systems interconnections and data exchange, interface coordination;
  • Organize and conducts calibration of measuring instruments;
  • Provide preparation and verification of documentation for the certification of measuring nodes, incl. commercial;
  • Control the state of the measuring nodes, incl. commercial, used by the Company, and provides reliability of indications and pricing of gas consumption and quality control of gas, accounting for electricity consumption. Monitors the correctness of processing information on the daily consumption of gas and electricity;
  • Carry out checks of a condition of metrological maintenance and observance of metrological discipline on all sites of the basic and auxiliary equipment according to the approved schedule;
  • Coordination and resolution of relevant engineering issues within the Project;
  • Coordinate Interface management across all Project phases with engineering contractors / design firms and JV partners as it pertains to engineering deliverables (vendors / engineering contractors);
  • Coordinate risk management of Project in Metrology discipline;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Process Control Engineering, Computer Science Software;
  • Minimum of 10/15 years of experience within Metrology and Instrumentation area on Gas pipeline projects (onshore and offshore pipeline operations, gas plant construction);
  • Solid Experience with Instrumentation, Metrology design and engineering;
  • Proven Working and design experience with Measurement systems;
  • Solid Experience as an Onshore Instrumentation and Metrology Engineer;
  • Experience with auxiliary and supporting systems;
  • Experience with Management of interfaces (other Contractors, disciplines, etc.);
  • Good understanding of common oil & gas engineering tools, such as P&ID’s, Cause & Effect diagrams, control narratives etc.;
  • Good coordination and communication skills;
  • Good comprehension of the English language, in speaking, reading and writing;
  • Good knowledge of the Russian or Turkish language is a plus;
  • General computer proficiency and good knowledge of the following programs and applications:  – Word, Excel, and Power Point;
  • Familiar with international Codes and Standards (NEN, IEC, ATEX, TSE and GOST);
  • Team working and flexibility.
