Senior Government Relations Expert (Ankara)


For this prestigious project we are recruiting for a Senior Government Relations Expert. You will be responsible for maintaining good relations between the Turkish government and South Stream Transport B.V., the Company responsible for the construction of the TurkStream Offshore Pipeline. Working together with the Communications Team, the Permitting Team and the Legal & Regulatory Affairs Team, you will help shape the approach of the Company towards the Turkish government.


As a subsidiary of PAO Gazprom, South Stream Transport B.V. is responsible for the construction of the TurkStream Offshore Pipeline.

The TurkStream Offshore Pipeline will start in Anapa, Russia, running over 900 kilometres through the Black Sea to the Turkish coast. The pipeline will help secure energy supplies to Turkey and South-Eastern Europe in a reliable and sustainable way. The Project will use state-of-the-art technology, materials and equipment, to safeguard the pipeline’s safe operation for many decades to come.


Reporting & Analysis

  • Keep track of main political developments in Turkey and write analytical notes on key developments;
  • Maintain an overview of key stakeholders and their position on the TurkStream Project (‘stakeholder mapping’).

Public Affairs

  • Keep in touch with key mid-level political stakeholders on a regular basis to maintain awareness of their position on the Project and potential concerns;
  • Good and open relationship with (deputy) Ministers (Finance, Energy, Environment and Urbanisation);
  • Help position the TurkStream project in a positive way with political stakeholders;
  • Working experience an relationship with Botas and other O&G related companies in Turkey;
  • Work with the Communications Team, the Legal Regulatory Affairs Department and the Permitting Team to ensure an aligned and consistent approach towards political stakeholders;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


  • 7-10 years’ work experience in communications and government relations or politics;
  • Excellent knowledge of the political landscape in Turkey;
  • An existing network within the organizations of our main counterparts, being the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and Turkish petroleum pipeline corporation BOTAS;
  • Experience in writing position papers and analytical reports;
  • Experience with large infrastructure or energy projects is considered;
  • Any legal background would be an asset;
  • Working proficiency in Turkish and English;
  • The candidate is able to work independently but knows when to involve others in his/her work;
  • Reliability and trustworthiness are key to the position;
  • Based in Turkey (Ankara). Travel to Istanbul (Turkish branch office), Kiyikoy (construction site in Turkey) and the Company Headquarters in Amsterdam (the Netherlands) will be required at times.
