Senior Survey Expert Offshore Operations (Amsterdam)


We are building up our Operations Offshore team based in Amsterdam and are looking to recruit a Senior Survey Expert Offshore Operations. You will support the Operations Department in all matters related to Survey for the Turkstream operational phase. You will be responsible for the planning and supervision of the periodic surveys and inspections on the pipelines during the operational phase. Solid multidisciplinary Oil & Gas operations related managerial / supervisory experience in a similar capacity with a various contractors and good understanding of offshore laws, norms and regulations is required.


As a subsidiary of PAO Gazprom, South Stream Transport B.V. is responsible for the construction of the TurkStream Offshore Pipeline.

The TurkStream Offshore Pipeline will start in Anapa, Russia, running over 900 kilometres through the Black Sea to the Turkish coast. The pipeline will help secure energy supplies to Turkey and South-Eastern Europe in a reliable and sustainable way. The Project will use state-of-the-art technology, materials and equipment, to safeguard the pipeline’s safe operation for many decades to come.


    As senior survey expert, onboard coordinator and client representative on board survey vessels you will be involved in the following activities:

    • Assessment of methodologies;
    • Preparation of functional & technical specifications regarding marine surveys and pipeline external inspections;
    • Planning and supervision of all marine surveys activities;
    • Procedure for installations activities;
    • Data management and qc of all survey data by appropriate software, pipelines critical situation check regarding the general state of the pipelines in particular: geo-hazard situation, survey of the burial depths for the trenched sections, efficiency of the cathodic protection system, survey of the geometrical configuration of the pipelines and the seabed profile, state of the interventions and monitoring of the dangerous situation.
    • Sea lines routing, re-routing and survey data management;
    • Detailed visual and instrumental acquisition data and preparation data for intervention works;
    • Engineering support during installations activities by vessels, divers (if any);
    • Risk analysis checks during survey operations in field;
    • Preparation of the all basic environmental data for alignment sheets and detailed drawings for maintenance works;
    • Supervision and qc of surveys data during: offshore ROV inspections and Divers (if any);
    • Routing analysis, pipeline integrity management system, pipelines related information system and data management;
    • Preparation of procedure and recommendation during the pipelines leak detection by ROV;
    • Coordinate with external parties in relation to the offshore operation with respect to DNV standards/requirements;
    • Assure that contractual requirements are implemented in survey works under responsibility of survey Contractors;
    • Data analysis, report analysis, document review as per DMS;
    • Early feedback on Contractor’s (or Subcontractor’s, if applicable) performances and survey results to SSTTBV;
    • Provide inputs for SSTTBV weekly and monthly reports;
    • Assure in-time reporting of survey results of high standard; liaise with, and supervise, survey contractor(s), especially where partial surveys and contractors overlap;
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.


    • Degree in Geology or Geophysics or Hydrography or Hydrographic survey;
    • At least 15 years of experience in survey works with broad knowledge in offshore gas pipeline construction, maintenance, inspections, repairs;
    • Experience working in international and multicultural environment;
    • Valid offshore survival and medical certificates will be required, as the candidate will be required also to attend offshore works. Certificates would be preferred at the recruitment stage but not mandatory. It has to be highlighted that any medical restriction or other restriction of any kind to get said certificates or to go offshore, could result in candidate to be disqualified for the job;
    • Competency in reporting, schedule analysis, scope of work and specifications production and review, procedures production and review, as well as technical and operational skills in survey and construction related works are required;
    • Management capabilities are required; capability to take decisions independently, clear and efficient communication skills (both verbal and written), are required;
    • Analytical skills, ability to cope with strict deadlines, capability to work in a team or together and among multiple teams;
    • Fluent in English and preferably Russian or Turkish.
