International Payroll Specialist (Amsterdam)


We are currently recruiting for our HR Team for an International Payroll Specialist. You will be responsible for the correct and swift payroll preparation, tax return process coordination and management information delivery. You will work closely with our Head of HR, Senior International Payroll Specialist, Senior HR Advisor and HR assistant in order to make sure our employees will get paid on time and correctly, the tax return process is running smoothly and reports are generated accurately and at short notice. This opportunity will appeal to payroll specialists who have extensive experience in a fast-paced international environment. We are looking for a person who understands the various aspects of a highly international employee group, including taxation challenges.


As a subsidiary of PAO Gazprom, South Stream Transport B.V. is responsible for the construction of the TurkStream Offshore Pipeline.

The TurkStream Offshore Pipeline will start in Anapa, Russia, running over 900 kilometres through the Black Sea to the Turkish coast. The pipeline will help secure energy supplies to Turkey and South-Eastern Europe in a reliable and sustainable way. The Project will use state-of-the-art technology, materials and equipment, to safeguard the pipeline’s safe operation for many decades to come.


  • Gather input and prepare South Stream’s monthly payroll for employees in The Netherlands and prepare the reconciliation file;
  • Check the monthly payroll (four-eye principle);
  • Execute the payroll whenever the Senior International Payroll Specialist is absent and execute the payroll once every few months in order to keep knowledge and skills up-to-date;
  • Gather input and prepare information for the external payroll providers to our Branches in Russia, Bulgaria and Turkey;
  • Assist the Senior International Payroll Specialist in the coordination of the tax return process for all (former) staff on the company’s (shadow) payroll;
  • Advise the HR team and employees on any payroll issues;
  • Take care of reconciliations of related salary balance sheets accounts and generate several reports for internal and external purposes;
  • Control and take care of employee’s insurances, Life-, Pension-, Spouse-, Disability-, Accident-insurances;
  • Ensure manual payments are processed on time and control invoices of third parties delivering related services;
  • Support and calculate the yearly salary-review;
  • Support and calculate the yearly bonus payment;
  • Take care of the tax assessments of the secondees and of the employees with net guaranty income;
  • Coordinate the tax returns process;
  • Prepare reports for internal / external purposes.


  • Accounting education preferred (HEAO, PDL/VPS diploma or equivalent);
  • Thorough knowledge of and solid experience with Unit4;
  • 5-8 years of profound experience with Dutch and international payroll;
  • Thorough knowledge and experience with taxation issues related to international payroll, such as 30%-rulings, gross/net-calculations, relocation allowances, tax return process, etc;
  • Ability to work independently – self-motivated – self-starter;
  • Pragmatic;
  • Hands-on mentality;
  • Meticulous;
  • Result-driven, but eager to execute with precision
  • Demonstrated to work in an international, fast paced, multicultural environment;
  • Fluent in English and Dutch, both verbal and written.
